Terms of Use

Last updated

These terms govern your use of WiFi Speed Test, a free browser-based tool for measuring your internet connection. Please read them together with the Privacy Policy, the Cookie & Storage Policy and the Data Usage notice.

1.Agreeing to these terms

By opening the site or running a test you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use it on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.

2.What the service is

WiFi Speed Test measures download speed, upload speed, latency and jitter between your device and a nearby Cloudflare server. It also shows details about your connection and gives indicative ratings for streaming, gaming and video calls. It is free and needs no account.

A result describes your connection at one moment, to one server, from one device and browser. It is an indication, not a certified measurement.

3.Who can use it, and where

The service is meant for people aged 16 and over, or younger users with a parent or guardian’s supervision where local law allows it. You may only test connections you own or have permission to test. Testing a workplace, school or public network may break that network’s rules, and that is your responsibility.

4.Data usage on your network

A full test deliberately uses your connection at full speed for about 10 seconds in each direction. On fast connections that can mean hundreds of megabytes, or more than a gigabyte, in one test. You are responsible for any data charges, overage fees or throttling from your provider. Read the Data Usage notice before testing on mobile data, while roaming or on a capped plan. You can press Stop at any time.

5.Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • run tests in an automated or repeating loop, or use scripts, bots or scrapers against the site or against the speed test servers it relies on;
  • overload, disrupt or probe the security of the site, its hosting, or Cloudflare’s servers;
  • bypass technical limits or access controls, or interfere with how the site works;
  • copy, mirror, frame or resell the service, or present our results as if someone else produced them;
  • use the service for unlawful purposes or in a way that infringes the rights of others;
  • alter, fabricate or misrepresent results, for example by passing off an edited screenshot as a real measurement.

We may block or rate-limit access that looks abusive, without notice.

6.Accuracy, and no guarantee

Many things outside our control change what you measure: WiFi signal and interference, distance from the router, other devices and apps on the connection, VPNs and proxies, browser and device limits, the server chosen, and congestion on the route. The same connection can legitimately return different results minutes apart, and different tools often disagree.

Results are provided for information only. They are not a legally valid measurement of service quality and should not be the only basis for a complaint, claim or contract dispute with your provider. If you need evidence for a formal dispute, use the certified measurement tool recommended by your national telecom regulator or provider.

7.Third-party services

The speed test depends on infrastructure run by Cloudflare, Inc., and the site is hosted by Vercel Inc. We do not control them, and their own terms and policies apply to what they provide.

WiFi Speed Test is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Cloudflare, and “Cloudflare” is a trademark of Cloudflare, Inc. Links to other websites are provided for convenience, and we are not responsible for their content.

8.Intellectual property

The design, text, code, logo and branding of WiFi Speed Test belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable and non-transferable licence to use the service for its intended purpose.

You may share a screenshot of your own result, including for editorial purposes, as long as you credit WiFi Speed Test and do not alter it. All other rights are reserved, and third-party names and marks belong to their owners.

9.Availability and changes to the service

We try to keep the service running, but we do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or uninterrupted. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time.

10.Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. That includes any warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, of non-infringement, and that results will be accurate or complete.

11.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, for loss of profits, data or goodwill, or for data charges and overage fees incurred while running a test, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to 100 euros, or the equivalent in your currency.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for intentional misconduct.

12.Consumers and mandatory law

If you are a consumer, you keep the rights that mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you, and nothing here is intended to take them away. Where these terms conflict with those rights, the mandatory law prevails.

13.Governing law and disputes

These terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by the law of the country where the operator of the site is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules and without prejudice to the consumer rights described in section 12. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us and give us a chance to settle the matter informally. Consumers in the European Union may also use the out-of-court dispute resolution routes available in their own country.

14.Ending your access

You can stop using the service at any time. We may restrict or end access for anyone who breaks these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as intellectual property, disclaimers and liability, survive.

15.Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms. If a change is significant, we will make it visible on the site.

16.Contact

To ask a question about this document or to make a privacy request, contact the operator of this site.
